Hi Hikers!
I've been closely watching the status of all the roads that lead into/out of the Sierra. Here's the latest as of today, April 26th, as reported by the Inyo County Sheriff's Office on Facebook.
Onion Valley Rd. – OPEN, Effective Friday (4/28) at 4:30pm. expect ICY conditions at times.
Whitney Portal Rd. – OPEN, Effective Friday (4/28) at 4:30pm.
Horseshoe Meadows Rd. – CLOSED- Due to road structural damage and rockslides; Inyo County is in the process of emergency opening repairs, we are anticipating limited access mid-June, depending on conditions.
Further north you have the Sierra resupply stops of MTR, VVR, Red's Meadow, and Tuolumne Meadows. I'll post opening information for each of these in the next few days.
